Okay, seriously, no surprise, I am planning to buy something much smaller than the class A I test drove. I am going to write more about that later, but wanted to thank you all for sharing your experience and opinions last week.
I know some of you have expressed reluctance about sharing your opinions or concern [...]

I’ve had to think too much, so now my brain is too tired to write a nice long post.
I am headed to Roman Holiday Motorhomes to test drive the big rig and a Sprinter class C. I am also going to sit in them for a very long time.
I’ve got all of my adopted family’s [...]

“Did you know that Jennifer is driving to the North Pole?”
A look combining fear and sadness contorts my father’s face, “Oh no…” trailing off, he looks as if he’s just been told I was diagnosed with a terrible illness.
“I’m not driving to the North Pole, Mom, I’m driving to the Arctic Circle.”
“I don’t think you [...]

My mother quit drinking when I was in the fifth grade.
She gave me lots of warnings about alcohol, explaining that being a drunk runs in her large Irish Catholic family.
Because of that, I have been pretty cautious. I know to limit myself to two drinks and to be very wary of any habitual drinking patterns.
Unfortunately, [...]

I am starting to get self conscious that so many people in my life are certain that the things I am doing are going to get me mutilated and murdered.
A person who loves me (and who shall remain unnamed) is worried about my blogging. She thinks I am putting myself in real danger by posting [...]

I have done a pathological amount of research, but feel like I am honing in on what I’d like to buy!
I am really attached to the 2000-ish Winnebago Journey, so hope I can get something like this or very close.
What I like:
Diesel Pusher
36 feet
Has that Cummins Engine that all the guys have told me I [...]

I have received so much generous encouragement for my planned adventure that I think my Internet reality has skewed my immediate reality.
Having dinner at a recent family get together.
Unnamed family member,”So, Jennifer, what have you been up to?”
Me, “Well, not much,” pausing, I tentatively offer, “I think I might sell my house.”
Unnamed family member, “Really? [...]

I am in the middle of cleaning out my garage and getting rid of more stuff! Yeah!
I will just copy and paste Joey’s response to my blog. The p.s. line made me laugh.

Love love love your blog… your style and humor of communicating.
I was laughing nervously when talking about me.. .. Lol.. [...]

The longer I wait, the bigger it gets. More research has me now fixated on the diesel pusher class A. I test drove a gasoline powered class A, but, after more research (and a lot of help from the Yahoo Diesel RV Group) I’ve decided to test drive the diesel pusher.
Having fishtailed under a semi [...]

I’ve been working hard to plan my move to an RV and my inaugural drive to the Arctic. As evidenced by previous posts, I’ve spent almost TOO much time planning for a seemingly infinite variety of possibilities.
So, after all of my hard work, research, extensive planning, etc., my late-to-the-game sister is getting excited, saying, “Send [...]

At 2:00 pm. Ruth Ann walks through my front gate, her eyes on the peeling grey paint and overgrown landscaping.
“Jennifer, how are you? Have you finished your PhD?”
Stepping into her hug, I glance self consciously at my neglected yard, “Uh, well, no, I quit.”
I met Ruth Ann while crashing open houses for homes I couldn’t [...]

The more I learn about RVs, the more frustrated I get with figuring out what I should purchase. My kind advisors fall into a few camps. Advice varies from:
Don’t overthink this – just buy an affordable, used class A motorhome for your first year ($35Kish). After that, you can trade in knowing exactly what you [...]

When I tell people (quite tentatively, I’ll admit) that I’m selling my house and moving into an RV, I get a few different reactions. Most women are of the, “You go girl!” variety, but many of my Texas women friends (of the big hair, big SUV, and really big purse variety) look at me with [...]
