I’m going driving today

I’ve had to think too much, so now my brain is too tired to write a nice long post.

I am headed to Roman Holiday Motorhomes to test drive the big rig and a Sprinter class C.  I am also going to sit in them for a very long time.

I’ve got all of my adopted family’s gifts wrapped and am delivering them today!

As noted in a previous comment, I am very seriously reconsidering the big rig plan. Some of your comments really made me think. I started playing with my budget spreadsheets, and that made me think even more. Thank god I have the time to think.

I am so grateful for all of the thoughtful feedback. You all are amazing!

Too bad this lady didn’t have people like you to help her figure it all out:

Countup: 22 days of sobriety!

Countdown: 135 days until I move into my RV!

LOL! HOW do you find this great stuff!?

Jeez…that would be me if I got an Airstream (my fantasy)…ARRRGH! I’d have to suck it up and spring for a big ole SUV/Truck….sigh.

Good luck today! Drive safely! :)

Oh wow! That video was hilarious – although I hope no one was hurt. :)

I’m very excited for you to test drive the RV’s today. And good for you to leave your options open to see which style you will be more comfortable with. Be sure to take some pictures (well not when you are driving of course)!

Have fun and be safe! :)

Have a fun day! And, remember, it is important to have enough power to go up those hills! Wow! Good luck making a decision. I guess there’s more to consider than choosing whichever has the nicer couch. I can’t offer you any mechanical advice, but I do know my furniture!

Jennifer – don’t fret….make it fun and enjoy the process.

Take notes so you remember your thoughts about each coach. This is very important as the info will soon run together. Take photos inside and out to go along with your notes.

Make it fun and enjoy the process.

Here is a book reference for you http://www.doreenorion.com/ (”Queen of the Road” by Doreen Orion. This is a entertaining read but don’t get caught up in the drama of shaking down a converted bus. That is not what you will get with a manufactured motorhome. Doreen shares some very funny andecdotes and experiences quite a transformation along the way.

    Enjoy the process.

This is to make you happy, not all of us. This is for your benefit, not the salesman. Remember your goals and find the tool that best serves your needs – not anyone else….

Take your time…don’t let an RV salesman pressure you. They are fairly notorious. This is a buyers market so you are in control.

    Have fun!

You are suffering from information overload.
Stop, relax, clear your mind and refresh.

Understand your needs for space. Some like a lot of space, some like only a little space.

Understand that you will become just as comfortable driving the big ass DP as you will the smaller c’s.

Only you can decide your budget, and how you want to spend your money. My research has concluded that one can get by quite cheaply RV’ing and cost go down each year as you meet new people and learn.

You have done such a great job so far don’t freak out now. Take your time! Go home and sit wait a month, sell the house, go see hubby, rent a ‘c’, go camping!

Rent the other units before buying, so that you only buy once. Read RV.net and see how many folks bought first, second and sometime third units before knowing and getting what they wanted.
You are already ahead of them.

Take your time don’t do anything right now wait until you are clear.
    Love
    James

My you have a bunch of folks tagging along now!
    Ain’t it great!

    What James said.

Also, consider this: You don’t want to buy too quickly, because then the shopping will be over!

And we all know shopping is at least half the fun!

Hey Jenn, excellent idea to check out the Sprinters… when we were looking at them they weren’t quite “beefy” enough to be able to tow the Jeep (3500 lb hitches). The newer ones are fine though. If it was just me, I’d be all over one of the little diesel sprinters… they make excellent use of the space they have. One thing to keep in mind with the class C units, they generally either have a big entertainment center above the drivers area, or an extra bed. When you look at them, consider which you’ll have a better use for… the space provided by the extra bed platform, or the cool TV and such. Both have advantages, but many people don’t consider the extra bed unless there’s more than one person. That’s a big storage area as long as you keep the weight down and secure it well. Which ever way you go, take your time and make an informed decision. The sooner you get a new unit, the sooner you’ll be making payments and paying insurance on it. No need to grab one before you’re really ready to use it.

Hope the day was fruitful…so to speak!?

I saw that “Sprinter”…pretty cool EXCEPT that PRICE!!! Holy Moly! Cha Ching! :)
Also, I noticed they had another ‘C’ for $38,000. Looked pretty nice too. 24′ I think?

I think my brain would explode at this point…harhar.
    Hope yours is still intact?
    XOXO
PS…Mar, on ‘Life at 55″, wants to sell her ‘C’ and it’s been very road-tested…I think in the $14,000 range too! Now THAT would not be a lot of $$$ loss if it bombed in the end? Just a thought.
