I worked hard on my house. Joel worked extremely hard on my house. (And I did pay him his daily rate and for materials – about $1,000 total.)
But I don’t know if all of our work was a waste of time.
After all the scraping, sanding, and repainting, I’m not sure the exterior of my house looks much better.
Ann was insistent that I get a good paint job.
I think we might need to start over – replacing the old boards and then repainting them.
I emailed Ann to ask her to come look and tell me what she thinks.
I don’t have much of a budget for home improvements, so I hope I’m wrong.
We’ll see what she says.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed you will not have to replace the boards. It will be interesting to follow and see what your realtor thinks. Keep us posted.
Argh!!!! That’s a LOT of work…hope she likes the finished product!
BTW…LOOK at this baby!!!! (I LOVE vintage trailers & buses….) The PRICE is unreal too!

I could so live in that!!!
Good grief. I find myself addicted to looking at RVs now. Thanks for the link. I aspire to possibly own something like that one day. So awesome.
I figured, living in Austin, that people would be looking more for the land to build a new house on, and not necessarily to keep the house that is on it?
Dunno. Seems to be popular in the older areas here in Houston. I just figured it would be the same there. That would really suck to do all of that work and then have some snooty couple come in and say “this is a PERFECT lot. Now we just gotta tear the house down and build a new one!”
Dear Barb, Thank you! I need the extra finger crossing… ; )
Dear Lady Di, You need to go drive a big RV! I know you can do it. That one is *very nice*… I think slide outs do make a difference, though.
Dear Wade, How was your weekend camping? Regarding my house, it could get very likely get torn down. Almost all the home value is in my lot…
Thanks for the comments!
Jennifer
AHHH! I dunno! THAT particular conversion (Prevost) has me so stuck/ enticed…I would not hesitate to drive that! And slide outs do not entice me….seems like just more headaches and “wth” anyway. Slideouts are new anyway….just get a screened add on…hahha!
I agree w/ Wade tho about areas and lots vs structures…..would REALLY suc if the lot was valued higher than the structure…if so, fergit the renovations! I live in such an area and am a realtor..sometimes the labor ain’t worth the dime…your realtor should know. XOXO
That is a nice coach and you are right, the price is nice. The finish out looks very upscale. I love vintage…
I am struggling with putting a smidgen of upgrade into my house. I’d say the lot was worth about $230K and the structure maybe $60K. This is a university area and people do keep these little 1940s houses, though… or add on to them… Let’s hope!
